David Cameron MP, UK Conservative Party Leader, has launched the Tickets for Troops campaign in Scotland. On the back of this initiative, sports clubs and organisations across the country have agreed to donate a number of free tickets to serving military personnel.

David Cameron said: “I am delighted at the response from Scottish organisations to our Tickets for Troops campaign. It is exactly what we should be doing as a country – coming together to recognise, thank and celebrate what the Armed Forces do for us.

“If I was Prime Minister the Government would do its bit – we have said that we would have a Manifesto for Forces Families. But we also need a ‘call to arms’ to the rest of the country to celebrate what they do for us and make them feel welcome when they return from the front line.

“Tickets for Troops is doing exactly that. So far we have spoken to: The SFA, Cricket Scotland, Tennis Scotland, Heart of Midlothian, Rangers, Aberdeen, Falkirk, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Frank Warren, O2, Surrey County Cricket Club, Wigan Athletic, Universal Music Group, British Athletics; and they have all agreed to make tickets available. This is a really exciting initiative and a good way for society to come together and say thank you, we respect you and understand the sacrifice you are making for us. I hope it is a campaign that others will take up.”

Annabel Goldie MSP, Scottish Conservative & Unionist Party Leader, said: “I am delighted with the response so far and we will continue to promote Tickets for Troops across the country. This is an issue above party politics which allows us to show our appreciation for the tremendous work and sacrifices our forces undertake for us. I hope others take up this campaign. Certainly Scottish Conservatives the length and breadth of Scotland will be contacting their local sports clubs and attractions to see if they want to get involved with this highly worthwhile initiative.”
