West Pollokshields Conservation Area Appraisal

Glasgow City Council has a duty to preserve and enhance the character and appearance of conservation areas and from time to time prepare and publish proposals for doing so. It is necessary therefore for residents and property owners to be aware of the key features, which together create West Pollokshields’ special character. The preparation of a conservation area appraisal is a means of identifying those features and provides an opportunity to identify and explain what the Council would like to do to preserve and enhance the conservation area.

The Council has recently prepared a draft appraisal for the West Pollokshields Conservation Area and the views of residents, property owners, local groups and other interested bodies are now sought. You have a major role to play in the preparation of conservation area appraisals and your involvement and support is fundamental to the success of the whole process. It is important to take account of local views, especially the values placed on aspects of the area by people who have an interest in it.

A copy of the draft appraisal can be viewed online.

Any comments you may have should arrive no later than 31 July 2009.
